EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

A friend and I used this recipe to cook for family and friends. We doubled the recipe, added chicken and broccoli, and cooked up 2lbs of fettuccine pasta. It was a hit! Nothing was left over, and compliments were flying our way. This is also my favorite dish. Very good, so thank you.

I used my immersion hand blender straight in the pan (tipped to keep it immersed) and was able to get rid of the cream cheese chunks and get that creamy alfredo consistency. Can't wait to eat it! But the spoon tastes good! :-9

I tried this tonight and thought it was great. For those of you, like me, who want a little extra flavor, add some more pepper and cheese and maybe some salt. I'm glad I read the reviews first. I used a wisk to blend the butter and cream cheese together and it turned out great.

now don't get me wrong its a good for a quick alferdo. but when the butter was seperated from the sauce such as greasy hamburger helper i just could not do it. and a hole table spoon of garlic.... ummmm no. But next time think of adding some milk and corn starch

This was GREAT!! I used fresh garlic and used 2% milk and target brand cream cheese. I also added green onion, bacon pieces and grilled chicken. yum! very rich though. I would say it serves 4 adults makes about as much as 1 jar would. oh, and i used the grated parmesan cheese not the powdered kind!! just stir, stir, stir because the heat needs to be up a bit to melt it down so its nice & smooth!

Very good recipe. I did alter it and used 1 pint (2 cups) of heavy whipping cream instead of 1 c half and half. Was not thin and made plenty of sauce.

I used the regular Kraft Parmesan and it was great. I added a little more than 1/3c.

Then instead of the the garlic powder I used a dash of "Garlic Bread Sprinkle" by McCormick. It got rid of the "cream cheese" taste. (Great to have on hand for anything in your pantry.)

I have tried all kinds of recipes for yrs and I just could not get rid of the "gritty" consistency (from the Parmesan). This passes the test.

Great recipe just add so that people know when combining the butter and cream cheese use a whisk so that it comes to a great sauce instead of lumpy and greasy looking..But one of the best and easiest recipes ever!!!

Used this recipe tonight, and it was fantastic. I added an extra half cup of Parmesan to make it extra cheesy, and instead of garlic powder I used a fresh pressed large clove of garlic. Excellent base recipe!
