EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

It was sooooo good! I added shrimp and broccoli and topped it on bowtie pasta cause thats all I had but forgot when I went the store. Oh and I only used 1/4 cup butter.

After reading the reviews I decided to give this a try. Glad I did.No problems whatever. Now, after four times, I began to see what could be substituted. I found by cooking on very low heat, I have no problems keeping it smooth. Glad I tried it. No off flavors, but I do use 1 tsp. of garlic.

Wow! This is by far the easiest recipe I have ever seen for an Alfredo Sauce. I really appreciate the extra tips on additional things to go with the sauce. It should be a no-brainer, but sometimes I don't remember it until its too late. Thank you again!

I don't doubt that this recipe might taste good and remind a person of restaurant-style Alfredo (as long as that restaurant is a chain). And I can also appreciate that if you use Neufchatel (low-fat cream cheese) and skim or 2% milk, that you might have a healthier sauce on your hands. But can I PLEASE ask what is so "difficult" about REAL Aflredo sauce? The basic ingredients are butter (yes, REAL butter), heavy cream and parmesan. You whisk together the cream and parmesan while still cold, melt the butter in the saucepan, and whisk in the cream mixture until it's hot and thick and bubbly. Use garlic, salt, pepper to taste. Really, that's it.

I don't know where the professional chef came up with white wine, but hey, I've never argued with booze in cooking. Chef Alfredo never intended his sauce to be an "everyday" sauce, as it is SUPPOSED to be rich and decadent. When you have the real thing, a little goes a long way and is a luxurious treat, as it was intended. If you're impervious to heart disease, THEN you can have it every night. ;)

Amazing!!!! I added in Marsacapone cheese in addition to the cream cheese. Also the best touch....I put in flavored cream cheese. It was a garden herb and this sauce was un real!!!
