CINDY'S HOMEMADE MACARONI AND CHEESE CASSEROLE | |
Always a family favorite! 2 cups uncooked macaroni noodles 2 lb. ground beef 4 cups bread crumbs (lightly toasted in 2 tbsp. butter) Cook macaroni as directed on package. Drain. Meanwhile, fry hamburger just until the red color disappears. Toast bread crumbs in a skillet with butter. Prepare cheese sauce. CHEESE SAUCE: 2 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 cups milk 1 1/2 cups cut-up cheese (your choice) In a saucepan melt butter. Blend in flour and salt. Add milk and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat and add cheese. Stir until melted. ASSEMBLY: Put cooked macaroni in bottom of casserole dish. Put browned hamburger on top of macaroni and crumbs on top of hamburger. Pour cheese sauce over all. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. Submitted by: Cindy Adams, Toledo OH |
