MOLASSES SPICE CRISPS 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
4 tbsp. molasses

Sift flour, soda, spices 3 times. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually, creaming until light. Add egg, beat, add molasses. Add flour gradually; mix thoroughly.

Roll in balls size of walnut. Dip in sugar. Place sugar side up on greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven. Do not stack or store until cool.
