HAMBURGER SAUERKRAUT POTATO
CASSEROLE
 
1 lb. hamburger
1 onion, chopped
1 c. sauerkraut
4-5 potatoes, cooked and mashed with butter

Brown hamburger and onions, season to taste. Cook sauerkraut for 10 minutes. Put hamburger in bottom of 2 1/2 or 3 quart casserole, put sauerkraut over then top with mashed potatoes. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

This is basically the same recipe that my grandmother passed on to me. The exception being that I add shredded cheddar or blend cheese to the top and the cook time is only 30 minutes to heat throughout (as everything is already cooked!).

OMG! I made and lost the recipe for this years ago. Tried hard to find it and couldn't until now. My original recipe called for Jimmy Dean's mild bulk pork sausage. Will have to try it with hamburger now.
