MAMA'S SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE
3 cups sifted all purpose flour
3 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
6 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. pure vanilla

Preheat oven to 300°F.

Cream together butter, vanilla and sugar; add eggs one at a time. Slowly add sifted flour to mixture. Mix baking soda into the sour cream in a separate cup or bowl, then add to the batter.

Pour batter into a bundt cake pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean.

We like our pound cake without glaze or icing; however, you can make a glaze with water and powdered sugar. If your cake comes out like mine, though, it is so moist that you don't need a glaze. However, ice cream goes very well with it!

I made this cake today. I followed the recipe and was excited about the way it looked when it was done. Upon cutting it it wasn't what I expected. It didn't cut like a pound cake.

Hi Ena

I'm the author of the recipe for sour cream pound cake. I was just reading your review and wondered what you meant that it didn't cut like a pound cake. It's a dense cake and it's really moist so I wonder if that is what you meant because most pound cakes are dry when you cut them. I'm always looking to improve my recipes so please feel free to make suggestions.
