SWISS HAMBURGER STEAK 
1 lb. ground beef
Salt and pepper to taste
1 egg
1/4 c. onion, chopped

SAUCE:

1/4 c. barbecue sauce
1/4 c. catsup
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. celery, diced

Combine beef, salt, pepper, egg and onion. Mix well. Spread on large sheet of aluminum foil on cookie sheet. Pat into circle and make slight indentation (deep enough to hold sauce). Pour in mixed sauce ingredients. Cover with foil. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

Makes 6 servings.

Take it easy on the barbecue sauce--a strong flavor overwhelms the rest of the dish and so either use a weaker sauce or dilute it somehow. I also included 1/4 cup of canned diced tomatoes to make it more like the swiss steak my mother made.
