EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

Tried this last night, and it was delicious. I only had whole milk on hand and it worked out fine. If you don't serve right away, you can keep adding milk and parmasen and keep stirring it. I added peas to mine and had it over chicken and spinach. I will never buy Alfredo in a jar again.

I doubled the cheese and used margarine instead. I also added 1 tbsp. of minced garlic when the margarine was melting. Extremely tasty!!

My husband and I made this awesome sauce last night.. it's the best Alfredo I've ever tasted!! We will never buy jar Alfredo again. And it was so easy to make. We substituted crushed garlic and I only had whipped cream cheese but it worked great. Can't wait to make this with some Cajun chicken and broccoli. Thanks Michael for sharing this delicious recipe :)

This sauce was unbelievable good. I made it tonight for my boyfriend and he suggested we just eat it like soup (don't worry I told him no). I did add minced garlic while the butter was melting and some sauteed mushrooms. Also, I doubled the half and half. But seriously, this was divine and I will be making it again!

Any recipe with more than eight ingredients makes my eyes glaze over -- this one is perfect. My three-cheese tortellini dinner was restaurant-quality with this sauce, served with garlic toast.

OMG!!!! This is so good and I don't even like alfredo sauce. Made this for my husband and I could drink it. I added fresh garlic to the butter like other comments and I used whipping cream in place of half and half. I added salt and pepper and a little garlic powder. Will make this again and I hope it freezes well.
