EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

For our no meat meal we had ours over spaghetti squash and broccoli.....What a party in the mouth ;D. I also used 2% milk and 1/2 cup of white wine still rich and creamy. I will be passing this on to my son !!!!

It is the best sauce ever! I used milk and it was still great! Thank you, Michael. I will use this on all of my pasta dishes! Wonderful and easy!

Made it just like the recipe but I didn't have any half and half so I substituted the half and half with equal amounts evaporated milk. I could not get my cream cheese and butter melted together well at all, so when i was done with the entire recipe I poured it all in a mixing bow and mixed it up with my hand mixer.... it was perfect after that!

I'm in the minority, but I didn't love this sauce. It tastes like a cream cheese sauce, not an alfredo sauce. I only made half the recipe, and I had another batch of leftover alfredo sauce that I made from a different recipe that was a bit too garlicky. I mixed the two together and added a little more parmesan and it was delicious. But I would not make this recipe again.

I tried this recipe and let me tell you, this Alfredo recipe is absolutely delicious. This is my first take at homemade Alfredo, usually I use the can or powdered sauces. What I didn't expect was for this recipe to taste so much like the restraunts. I used milk instead of half and half, because that's what I had on hand; also margarine instead of butter. I can't wait to use half and half and butter when I make this again, I'm pretty sure sometime this week. Thinking about this recipe just brings a smile to my face.

This was one of the best sauces EVER. I added my own twist of chicken, bacon, crushed tomatoes and spinach with Penne pasta noodles. Throw in some mozzarella cheese then bake it, the dish was empty in 15 minutes! Added this to my permanent cook book!

In my opinion needs a cup of parmesan at least. The recommended 1/3 cup still makes sauce taste like liquid cream cheese. I cut chives with scissors into mixture and on top of final plating. The chives make it.

LACTOSE INTOLERANT WITH CELIAC DS: Used Neufatchel (low fat cream cheese) and Lactaid and fresh grated Parmesan...with a little parsley and nutmeg and minced garlic...baked over spaghetti squash...divine.

Needed Alfredo sauce for white chicken pizza and this was fabulous. I used 1% milk because that is what I had. Definitely use a whisk when mixing ingredients together.

Turned out great. I used fresh garlic. I will never try any other recipe.

Great recipe, one issue I had is it says to mix the butter/cream cheese until well mixed and they do not mix well until after you add the half & half, flavor is spot on!
