EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

Easiest & Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce

OMG! Never going to a restaurant when I am craving alfredo pasta! I added 3 cloves minced garlic to the butter and omitted the garlic powder, used 2% milk instead of half and half, and added a pinch of salt to the recipe. THE BEST alfredo sauce ever! I sauteed up some shrimp and added that and the sauce to the fettucine pasta - excellent! The sauce was very thick so I might add more milk or less cream cheese next time. I was delighted I could make fettucine shrimp alfredo for less than $4 per person!

I prepare in top half of double boiler. I use milk instead half and half. Thicken with Parmesan and thin with milk if needed. Keep warm in top of half of double boiler over hot water. :-)

Did its job as an alfredo for sure! The butter and cream cheese mixture curdled, but did smooth out after a lot of whisking. I did not have parmesan or garlic powder, so I skipped those. Next time I would definitely cut back on butter. I do not like butter a lot, I think it tastes greasy, and I could definitely taste it in this recipe. I also added a little oregano and basil, which made it taste more sophisticated. It still turned out well in the long run, good workhorse recipe!

Thank you so much for sharing!! This has made great hits both at work and with the family. The only thing I do a little different is salt and use minced garlic instead of powder. Awesome sauce :)

Very nice, easy sauce. Set up just right- most of my Alfredos are too thin. I thought the cream cheese flavor was a bit strong, though. Maybe add a bit more Parmesan, and cut back on the cream cheese.

I have never attempted a homemade Alfredo sauce before I found yours. I compared this one to others on the web and yours won out. Boy, it was a tremendous success with my family! It was not only easy, but yummy. I used shrimp this time, but will try with chicken next time because there will definitely be a next time. Thank you for sharing. It is now added to my recipe collection.

I made this and used less garlic. 2 tsp instead of 1 Tablespoon. I used butter because margarine is yuck. Anyone ever research the ingredients in margarine? Ugh. Anyway, the recipe was great. Just maybe tell people the amount of sauce this recipe makes. Thanks
