SALSA PICANTE (HOT SAUCE) | |
1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste 2 sm. to med. onions 2-3 sm. green bell peppers 1/2 c. chopped black olives 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes 4-5 fresh jalapeno peppers OR same canned (fresh preferred) 1 tbsp. crushed red pepper 1 tbsp. basil 1/2 tsp. tarragon 2 tbsp. lemon juice 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed 1/2 tbsp. oregano Finely chop onions, green pepper. Mince garlic (or crush finely). Dice stewed tomatoes and jalapenos (handle very carefully or wear gloves! - will burn skin if not cautious). Combine and mix well with all other ingredients. Let stand 1 hour. Chill. Serve as garnish for tacos and other Mexican dishes, or as a spicy dip with corn tortilla chips. Also excellent with nachos! |
