NEXT RECIPE:  CUCUMBER SALAD

CROCK POT BEEF ROAST
3 to 4 pound roast beef or round steak
salt and pepper
1 small onion, chopped
1 pkg. brown gravy mix
1 cup water
1/2 cup ketchup (Hunts)
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 cup red wine (optional)

Place meat in slow cooking pot. Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over meat. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours.

If desired, add small peeled potatoes and carrots. Sauce can be thickened with 2 tablespoons flour dissolved in 1/4 cup of water.

I usually skip the potatoes and carrots and mix the roast or round steak with egg noodles.

I had family over for christmas and used this recipe for both a pot roast and venison roast - in separate crock pots! I added fresh rosemary and oregano to the recipe list above and both were fabulous. I've been emailing the recipe to all of my family for weeks

This took me 5 minutes to put together and I only had a few dishes to do. It was absolutely delicious too! I have a duo crock pot, so I made rice to and peas on the other side (i used minute rice... Use as much water as you do rice. Example, one cup rice = one cup water. The rice only takes about 45 minutes to get done)

This was great! I substituted the brown gravy mix (which I didn't have) for some beef bouillon, then just needed to thicken with a little flour near end. Definitely use the wine. Added potatoes and carrots and a cup of beef broth after four hours. Completely delicious!!

This recipe was amazing, even my child who doesn't like meat loved it. We slow cooked it for 8 hours with a run of the mill rump roast not high end and it fell apart and the flavor was incredible. Used to liquid from the crock pot to make a gravy, highly recommend this to anyone!!

Just tried this put celery and peppers in as well as water instead of the wine. Just waiting for it to get done. Put it on around 1030 or so. So I will write how it turned out after we eat it lol.
