4 eggs 1 c. sugar 3/4 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, chopped 1 tbsp. cherry juice 1 tbsp. anise seed 1/2 c. soft shortening 2 c. flour 4 tsp. baking powder Beat all eggs. Add sugar and shortening and mix. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, nuts, cherries and juice. Beat well. Add remainder of flour and baking powder. Form into small loaves. Bake at 350 degrees until firm. Remove from oven. Slice loaves into individual cookies and return to oven to toast light brown. |
