ROB'S FRENCH FRIED ONIONS 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 large onions
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. sugar (optional)
1 egg, well beaten
1 tbsp. oil

Remove skin from onions and slice 1/4-inch thick. Cover with cold water. Let stand 30 minutes. Wipe dry. Separate into rings. Combine egg with milk. Add dry ingredients. Add oil and mix thoroughly. Add onions to batter. Deep-fry until brown.
