FRENCH FRIED ONION RINGS 
2 lg. onions, cut in rings
1 egg, well beaten
2 tsp. salt
1 c. plus 4 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. oil
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 c. ice water

Slice onions and soak in ice water, 30 minutes to 1 hour. Combine remaining ingredients as batter. Drain onion rings from ice water and dip in batter. Fry in deep fat 375 degrees. Drain and serve.
