BAKED LASAGNE 
Prepare this the day before and refrigerate. When ready to use, let stand at room temperature about 1 hour, then bake 1 hour in 350 degree oven.

Cook lasagne noodles according to basic directions.

MEAT SAUCE:

1 lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
1/2 clove garlic, minced
1 med. onion, finely chopped
1/4 tsp. sweet basil
1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste & 2 cans seasoned tomato sauce
2 (12 oz.) cans water
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

In a large skillet, brown ground beef in the oil. Add garlic, onion, sweet basil, tomato paste, water, salt and pepper. Simmer about an hour, stirring occasionally.

CHEESE FILLING:

Mix together with spoon 1 (24 oz.) carton small curd cottage cheese, 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley and 1 pound grated Mozzarella cheese. Lightly grease a large baking dish, approximately 10"x14". Spoon in enough meat sauce to cover the bottom, top with strips of cooked lasagne, spread with part of the cheese filling. Repeat layers ending with meat sauce. Sprinkle top with 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.

This recipe takes about 12 strips of lasagne noodles.
