UNSWEETENED APPLE BUTTER (IN CROCK-POT) | |
6 cored and sliced sweet apples (which are NOT peeled) 3 cups apple cider or unsweetened apple juice 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp. ground cloves Place unpeeled apples in the bottom of the slow cooker and add all other ingredients. Set to slow (LOW) cook for 12 to 15 hours and walk away. The apples will have blended and juices reduced. Once cooking is done, use an immersion blender to beat until smooth. Note: I did not need this and only uncovered Crock-Pot so that more of the juices will evaporate. Once the apple butter cooled, place in sterilized jars. butter will keep about 3 months in the refrigerator. Submitted by: Eileen |
