Rob's Meat Loaf - Recipe

ROB'S MEAT LOAF

1 1/2 lb. ground sirloin
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped sweet onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 egg beaten
1/2 of sauce mixture

Sauce:

2/3 cup ketchup
4 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. yellow mustard

Mix all ingredients plus half of sauce mixture. Place meatloaf in loaf pan,

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Add remainder of sauce to meatloaf during the last 15 minutes of cooking.

Delicious meatloaf - kids love it. Make a double batch of sauce if desired for dipping.

I had a recipe like this from Quaker Oats and had it memorized. Over the course of time and not having made it, I forgot the proportions. The only changes I made to this recipe was using 1/2 lb. of ground pork and 1lb. pf ground beef. I covered the prepared loaf with strips of center cut bacon and procedures with the topping of BBQ sauce. It was so good. Thanks for having this recipe posted. It was always a hit with my family.

I used 1 pound ground sirloin and 1/2 pound ground pork sausage like Jimmy Deans or Bob Evans. It does crumble so not good for slicing for sandwiches. Will try dry bread crumbs next time instead of the oats. The sauce is what really makes this meatloaf delicious!
