OLD - FASHIONED BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/3 c. shortening 3/4 c. milk 1 tbsp. butter Sift flour, baking powder and salt together in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add milk and blend lightly with a fork only until flour is moistened and dough pulls away from sides of bowl. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead lightly, about 30 seconds. Roll 3/4 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place close together on lightly greased baking pan. Brush tops of biscuits with butter. Bake at 475 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. |
