Tater Tot Casserole

 Tameka (Alabama) says:
This recipe is much better when you deep fry the tots first and with cream of chicken instead of cream of mushroom, but to each his own.

I have made tater tot casserole for years, but I always add a pound of cooked ground beef. It's something that fills everyone up as a meal.

All of you are great! I also have made tot cassarole for years. I use cooked chicken breast. Mix the cr of chicken soup with chicken, put the tots on top of that then bake. It's yummy

You can mix browned hamburger & sauteed onions with soup & pour over a layer of tater tots. Top with another layer of tater tots & cheese. You can eliminate sour cream & french fried onions or even substitute cream of chicken or cream of celery soup. Try a mixture of soups. Many variations to this recipe. Love all the comments.

Follow the recipe and it is fine when adding 1 lb. hamburger... It is good when looking for a easy meal and cheap... The cream of mushroom can also be changed to each persons taste.

Would like to say that this recipe would be better with shredded hash browns because it is more like hash brown cass. Tator tot cass has ground beef mixed with cream of mushroom and tots on top. But everybody does make this differently.

Well if you want to make your tator tot casserole into a real meal this is what you do. Fry up ground hamburger, put it into a casserole dish then you can put chopped onion carrots, corn, peas, what ever, 3 veggies you want on top then you put your tator tots on top with the cheese and soup. It really good..

This was a pleasure everyone! Much more than I expected from a simple little "tater tot" recipe.
Where the main ingredient was invented from "left-over" portions of potatoes in 1953 by Ore-ida.

Tater tot casserole is a favorite here. However, a nice side-dish is frozen hash-browns and cheese topped with crushed, buttered corn-flakes... baked in the oven until browned.

The shredded and cubed potatoes were very good I don't like mush tater tot

OK! I'm trying this recipe today. But I am going to use 1 bag of Nathans frozen potato pancakes with a half of package of frozen hashbrowns (like the kind you get at McDonalds) the potato pancakes have onion in them. I am going to cook the potato's first. Will let you know how it comes out. Being originally from the south I am going to rename it Brooklyn red neck casserole.
