Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

Needs a little more salt, and needs also 1 tsp of corn starch to thicken sauce. Drain meat of oil and put 3/4 of a cup of water in meat, add mix. Made the best tacos I've ever had.

I have a recipe similar to this, but it calls for 3 tbsp. of tomato paste and approx. 3/4 cup of water. Really good. Add to 1 lb. ground beef, I use it for all my mexican dishes as well. Love it

This recipe with the extra salt and the water is great. I made a triple batch and keep it in a jar for a quick dinner.

Thanks for the great recipe. It saves money and I think the commercial mixes are too salty now.

I made these tacos tonight, and they were great!! I added just under a tsp. of salt instead of 1/2 tsp., and 3/4 c. of water as suggested, and it was perfect! Thanks for the tips!

Just tried this - it was great! I didn't have any onion powder so I substituted garlic salt. Because of that, I didn't need any extra salt, but I did add the water. I don't think I'll be buying commercial taco seasoning any more.

These were yummy. Was great for about 1 lb. of meat. Just added about 1/2 to 3/4 cup water to browned (and drained) meat. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to soak in flavors. A little spicy, so use a little less if you don't like spicy. Perfect amount if you do.

I just love these. Way better than commercial seasoning. I was out of onion powder, so I diced up some onion to brown with the meat. I added the water, and the sauce thickened on its own after simmering. If you are accustomed to commercial seasoning, you may need to add a touch of extra salt, though I thought just a tsp. was excellent.

This recipe works great with ground turkey, too. Really gave it a richer flavor! Ditto about the garlic salt/salt. I won't be buying taco seasoning again, either!!

This recipe is really good. I didn't have any oregano, but it tasted great anyway. Instead of regular salt I added in Lawry's seasoned salt, loved it! I made a huge batch to keep on hand. Have you even SEEN the amount of salt in the store packets? Ick!

I my humble opinion, to get that authentic Taco Seasoning taste, add 1 to 2 Tbps. of Masa Corn Flour instead of cornstarch or regular flour to thicken the sauce. Try this. You won't be disappointed.

Really good - I had no mix and this is better than any mixes in the envelope - and no chemicals, preservatives etc. Best.

Great recipe, if you want a little extra kick you can add 1 tsp of ground red pepper. If you end up adding too much water no worries, just simmer a little bit longer.

I use this to season my hamburgers and it is the best. flame kissed on the BBQ, topped with jalapeno jack cheese, guacamole, fresh salsa and sour cream or tzatziki makes for an amazing "taco" burger. serve with oven garlic fries or side salad. delicious!
