Thank you for the Salt Free Taco Mix! Being a a very very low sodium allowance diet (less than 1500mg per day) - these homemade seasoning mixes are lifesavers, in more ways than one. Worked out well and was delicious! Made a huge batch in a jar to always have on hand.

Added 2/3 cup water and modified ingredients slightly to match what spices were in the cupboard; great, thanks! Didn't try the cornstarch thing, just heated on high after meat was browned, stirring regularly until the excess water had cooked off.

Wow. Made the recipe as given except increased salt to 1 tsp., added 1 cup water and 4 oz. (2/3 of small can) tomato paste; simmered 30 minutes on low - and this made the most incredible "taco" sauce for use with tacos, burritos, anything Mexican. I keep a jar in the fridge. Also made your exact dry spice blend to keep for future use. Really great recipe!!

Very tasty; I took the advice and added a can of tomato paste to 3 lbs grass fed beef. Awesome.

Thank you. I used brown sugar instead. I added 3/4 of water and used a tsp of salt as suggested. Overall we enjoyed and we will make our own now instead of store bought. We found it a bit salty with extras salt, so I'll lessen that next time. My wife asked for it to be a bit spicier next time so I'll try addin some red pepper possibly.

This was great! I added 1/2 tsp of arrowroot for thickening and used ground turkey. Will not be buying packaged taco mix again! Thanks.

I added a tsp more of Penzey's medium hot chili powder and 1 tsp of Penzey's arrowroot for thickening. This really is delicious and $$ saving. I brown lean ground turkey and add in about 2 tbsp of the taco mix plus 2-3 tbsp of water. Adjust to taste. Really good!!

I am so going to make this tomorrow night! Cannot wait! I will be adding what I always add to my meat though. After you brown your meat, I add in a can of diced tomatoes with green chilies, a can of potates (i cut them up smaller). It is so good and stretches the taco mixture way further. I have also added beans and rice sometimes.

I sprinkled about a tablespoon of flour over the ground beef and cooked for a minute before adding 3/4 cup of water....we put this over a salad and served it with salsa chips and sour cream, delicious!

Good recipe, one adjustment I made was rather than salt I used a teaspoon of beef flavored bullion powder, adds extra flavor.

I've made this numerous times. Now I make a double batch. I add 1 tsp. arrow root for thickening to a double recipe. It's great for 93 percent lean ground turkey for tacos quesadillas etc. It's awesome.

K. Mitchell that was it! I loved the recipe pretty much as is (with some extra minced garlic of course!) but it was missing something. The Beef flavoring was it for me. I used about 1Tbl of "Better Than Bouillon" beef base and that was what I was missing. Thanx!

After announcing to the family that tonight would be taco night. I realized I had everything EXCEPT the darn packet! I googled recipes and decided to try this one. I had everything on hand. My only change was half hot Mexican chili powder half regular chili powder. I used 3/4 cup water 1 and 1/4 lb ground beef.

OMG! Hands down the best tacos I've ever made. After all my sampling, I just hope there is enough left in the pan to serve the family for supper! LOL

THANKS!

Ran out of store bought seasoning and tried this as we live out in the country and the store is not close by and it was fabulous and tasted just like the store bought!
