GRANDMA'S FAVORITE COOKIES | |
2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 3/4 c. shortening, softened 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1/4 c. milk 1 c. raisins, chopped 3 c. oatmeal, quick or old fashioned Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into bowl. Add shortening, sugars, eggs and milk. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Stir in oats and raisins. Refrigerate dough about 1 hour. Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with floured 3 inch round cutter. Place on greased cookie sheets; sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Makes 3 dozen. |
