Easy Baked Pork Chops

I have made something similar for years, but without the cream soup. Who needs the extra fat and calories. I just sprinkle the dry onion soup mix under and over the pork chops (works great with lamb too), add some sliced tomatoes, and a little water. The tomatoes cook down and add to the broth. Much healthier and still yummy.

I am lazy so I have always put in pork chops, chunk up some potatoes, season with whatever you like, add small can of cream of chicken soup, add one can of water and cover with tin foil. Bake at 350°F for 2 hours. Turns out perfect every time.

Yes, this was a good recipe.

My theory is folks are getting runny gravy b/c they are using fat chops. I had two packages of chops so I doubled the recipe. One group of chops had more fat than the other. I cooked both batches at the same time for 30 minutes and in the same oven. The dish with the fatter chops came out runnier than the other. It didn't ruin anything... I just put all the gravy together in one dish and mixed in the rice.

I didn't have onion soup mix, so I sauteed some onions and mixed them in with the soup and 1/2 can (total) of milk. I also added about a teaspoon (total) of minced garlic. My chops were approx 3/4 inch thick.

Tasty!

I changed the recipe up a little. Instead of the cream of mushroom soup, I used the golden mushroom soup instead w/canned evaporated milk. Plus I found onion mushroom soup mix. I seared 9 medium sized chops in the pan for about 20 mins. And baked them in a 9x13 glass baking pan for 45 mins. I noticed I had to make more gravy so I mixed up another can, milk and onion mix and I heated it up in a pan on the stove (for the rice). Pork chops turned out excellent!!!. I'm not cooking pork chops on the stove again (which is how I usually make mushroom'd chops). So much easier in the oven. Will be making this again and again. Hubby and kids loved it! (all the measurements mentioned above were perfect).

AWESOME recipe, if done right. Here's my revisions: Used thick, center cut porkchops (bone in). Seasoned and browned them in HOT skillet for just a few seconds per side to get the seasoning set in. Mixed the gravy in a bowl before pouring over chops: Used Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic (this really added flavor), the onion soup, and about 1/2 the soup can full of milk. Also added about 1/2 an onion to the bake. Baked it at 350 for about 40 mins. Could have gone a little shorter time, but they are juicy and delicious!!

I used butterflied pork chops and browned them first. I didn't have onion soup mix so mixed in a couple small packets of rice seasoning mix I had hanging around the house, added a can of milk instead of water with the Mushroom soup along with a a couple tablespoons of dried chives. Served the meal over rice with a side dish of peas.

I made this recipe tonight... I think it only needs half a can of water.. I added onions to it but the chops came out really juicy... I recommend this and play around with the recipe.. Added some garlic powder to it after it was done... Great!

My husband and I now LOVE this recipe. We do, however, use only 1/2 a can of additional fluid (we use milk) and we do not use the onion soup mix (just some minced onions). Brown before baking FOR SURE! Also, we do not serve with rice, we make stove-top stuffing and then add it to the top when there is about 15 minutes left.
