“SURPRISE MERINGUES” IS IN:

SURPRISE MERINGUES 
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 300°F.

Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Add sugar gradually, beating until very stiff. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on a cookie sheet covered with brown paper.

Bake at 300°F for 25 minutes.

Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
