Any one know if I can add stale marshmallows? I have a full bag that sat in the pantry too long!

 Cooks.com replies:
Hi Nan,

The stale marshmallows can develop a chemical additives kind of flavor. The best way to be able to tell is to taste them!
But stale ingredients are usually not worth salvaging.

Happy Holidays!

Nan - I just used a whole bag of stale marshmallows in homemade hot chocolate I gave out as a Christmas gift. Pinch the marshmallows in half, so they don't look like regular marshmallows.

We just made this and it was wow it was grainy, any pointers we followed just what it said, what did we do wrong?
 #20452
 Tonya Cook (Georgia) replies:
Tammy, after boiling the sugar and milk for the full 2 & 1/2 minutes, add the peanut butter and vanilla along with a heaping spoonful of marshmallow cream or a handful of mini marshmallows. I use a large wisk, and you have to work fast. It sets up in no time. I made it as stated above, then I tried the marshmallow cream in addition. My kids couldn't stay out of the 2nd batch. It's oh so good.

 Linda G Beebe (Texas) replies:
Solution for those whose fudge became grainy. All sugar crystals have to be dissolved before it comes to a boil. Wash down sides of pan with wet pastry brush or wet paper towel for stray crystals on pan. One crystal not dissolved creates a chain reaction and a grainy fudge.
