OLD FASHIONED PEANUT BUTTER
FUDGE

3 cups sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1 tbsp karo syrup
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
Dash salt

In a large saucepan, combine sugar, milk, and Karo. While stirring, bring to a boil on low heat.

When it comes to a rolling boil, start testing for soft-ball stage in about 3-4 minutes (soft-ball stage is to take a drop of the boiling contents and drop it into a cool cup of water and be able to pick up the drop with your fingers).

When the soft-ball stage is ready, add peanut butter, vanilla, and salt.

Optional: Stir until it is cool and then pour into a buttered 9x12-inch pan or alternatively, just pour immediately into the pan.

This is the same as my recipe but instead of using salt I use regular margarine that has salt in it.

Thanks

This recipe worked great... after getting to the soft ball stage I took it off the heat and stilled till smooth and a bit cooler... I added the peanut butter and vanilla and stirred until smooth and it already started to set on sides of pot. Immediately pored into buttered pan to cool. AWESOME!
