OLD FASHIONED PEANUT BUTTER
COOKIES

2 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. Skippy creamy or super chunk peanut butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs

Stir first 4 ingredients; set aside. In a large mixing bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat butter and peanut butter, until smooth. Beat in all sugars until blended. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Add flour mixture. Beat until well blended. (If necessary, chill the dough.) Shape into 1" balls. Place 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten balls slightly and decorate with candied cherries, or flatten with a fork dipped in colored sugars. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove cookie sheets and cool on a rack. Yield: 6 dozen.
