HUNGARIAN PLUM DUMPLINGS 
3 lg. potatoes
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. shortening
12 plums
1/4 lb. butter
1 1/2 c. bread crumbs

Leave potatoes whole and unpeeled. Boil and set aside. Mix flour and salt. Peel cooked potatoes and mash into bowl with flour and salt. Add shortening and work with hands until well mixed. Use a small amount of flour on hands if desired. Roll out dough with floured rolling pin. Cut dough into squares, placing whole plum in center of each square. Fold dough over plums, sealing. Put dumplings in 3 quarts of boiling water that has 1 teaspoon of salt added. Cook 12 to 15 minutes.

Melt butter and add bread crumbs. Mix well. Place cooked dumplings in bread crumb mixture. Serve warm. Serves 4.

My grandmother would always cut the plums in half, remove the pit and add a cube of sugar where the pit was before putting the halves back together. I can't remember anything else about this recipe, I'm glad I found it. Thank you
