If you turn your measuring cup upside down for any peanut recipe and let very hot water run over to make it hot, the peanut butter will slide out, making cleanup a breeze.

When I was in college, I called the lady that worked in the cafeteria at my elementary school (Ms. Rogers)and she gave me the recipe... she never gave me a temp. But guess that was just bring to a slow boil???

But it called for the secret ingredient: Butter!

I looked for the temp. and think I will raise it to 245 to see how firm that is... do not want too firm.

This is my favorite recipe of all time... but my original recipe was lost... but this one helps me get close to what I remember.

Regards and thanks,

Brian

This recipe differs from the original that Kellogg's printed in the 1970's. It used 3/4 cup each of Karo corn syrup, brown sugar, and peanut butter with 6 cups Rice Krispies. You would bring the corn syrup and brown sugar to a boil, remove from heat, stir in peanut butter until smooth, then add the cereal a cup at a time, making sure it gets thoroughly coated. Then press into a butter pan using wax paper. The flavor is deliciously chewy and peanut buttery.

This is the recipe my grandmother followed when I was a small child. I am 58 Years Old. and I can remember grandma making these when I was eight and nine years old, so 50 years ago. When I looked up the original on the Rice Krispie's website it gave marshmallows as the originals; that is not so. Grandma never used marshmallows and only used the corn syrup and always made them with peanut butter. Oh my, now I miss her even more!

This is the recipe I remember my mom making. I like it so much better than the marshmallow recipe that is now found on the box.

Can you use dark Karo instead of white? Is there a difference other than the color?

I've been making these squares for years, and my adult kids still love them. One variation I use at Xmas time is that while the mixture is soft, I roll , in my hands, 3 balls of it, small, medium and large and stack them like a snowman, then dust with shredded coconut. If you do it quickly, the balls will stick together. Happy eating!!

Gotta try this recipe ASAP! I've read all the reviews and wrote down every tip. As I was writing something crossed my mind: I wanna try making this recipe using Fruity Pebbles and marshmallows. Can't wait to make these with my grandkids.

This is my favorite Rice Krispy bar recipe. I melt chocolate chips with a tbsp or so peanut butter on top. (PB keeps choc from getting hard & brittle when cutting the bars). These are always gone by the end of the party!

I make these and I melt my Karo, sugar and peanut butter in a large bowl in the microwave for about 2 minutes or until it starts to bubble and then I begin adding the rice krispies. I butter glass pans that have plastic tops and cool and cut. I have keep in these pans for a week or in a double seal zip lock for over a week. My family loves and they only take 15-20 minutes start to finish.

I use the recipe off the rice krispies box. It calls for marshmallows not sugar or Karo syrup.
