EMPANADAS-FILLING-SPINACH 
1 c. cooked chopped spinach
1 c. Cheddar, shredded
8 strips bacon, fried and crumbled
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

DOUGH:

2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. ice water
Filling
Oil for frying

Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cut in shortening, add water and knead. Divide mixture into 12 balls. Roll each 1/8" thick. Put 1 spoonful on 1/2 of circle. Moisten edges with water, fold over filling. Press edges together. Press fork tongs around the edge.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. OR fry in hot oil until golden and drain on paper towels.
