BRATWURST WITH KRAUT 
1 qt. (32 oz.) sauerkraut
2 (12 oz. each) cans beer
1 lg. onion, diced
1 med. potato, grated
1-2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 apple, peeled and diced
1 tsp. caraway seed (optional)
6 bratwurst cooked on grill

Place sauerkraut in a large saucepan. Stir in onion, potato, apple, brown sugar and caraway. Pour beer over the sauerkraut. Simmer uncovered 45 minutes. Meanwhile, grill the bratwursts. Add bratwurst to the sauerkraut, cover and simmer 15 minutes.

Easy to prepare. I didn't use caraway seed and used empire apples and miller lite beer. The beer took to much away from the taste from the sauerkraut. Probably could have used at least 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
