FROSTED CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES 
A Cake-like Cookie.

1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
3 (1 oz. ea.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Melt shortening and chocolate together. Add sugar and beat well. Add vanilla and eggs and beat well.

Sift together flour, baking soda and baking powder. Add the dry ingredients and milk alternately. Fold in chopped nuts and raisins.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.

Bake at 350°F for about 12 minutes. Frost with Chocolate Frosting.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen (2-inch) cookies.

CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

2 tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
2 (1 oz. ea.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup water
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

Place shortening, chocolate and water in a saucepan and heat until the shortening and chocolate are melted.

Mix in salt, egg yolk and vanilla. Add confectioners' sugar and beat well.
