“BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES” IS IN:

BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3)
1 1/4 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Whole nuts

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Sift together flour and next 5 ingredients: sugar, baking soda and, salt, and spices. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Add shortening, eggs, bananas, rolled oats and chopped nuts, and blend together well.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto on greased baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Top each cookie with a whole nut pushed into the center.

Bake 15 minutes or until light brown and cooked through. Remove from sheets at once.

This was an easy to make and very tasty cookie and the dough was also wonderful to eat when the cookies were baking. I might add some chocolate chips next time. They were flavorful and perfectly crisp in the outside and soft on the inside.
