CHEESE BISCUITS 
4 c. flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. cold shortening
1/2 c. cold butter
1 1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. shredded cheese

1.Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl.

2.With a pastry blender, cut in butter and shortening until crumbly, then stir in cheese.

3.Make a well in the center and pour in all of the milk. Mix with wooden spoon until dough cleans the sides of the bowl.

4.gather dough into a ball and turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead and roll to a 1/2 inch thick circle.

5.Cut circular biscuit rounds and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

*Melt 2 tbsp. butter, 1/2 tsp. garlic salt, and 1/2 tsp. parsley and/or oregano. Brush over biscuits with pastry brush just before serving.*
