CREAM CHEESE FILLED
BREAD-COOKIES ROLLS
 
1 loaf white bread, 2 days old
1 lb. cream cheese
2 egg yolks
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar or colored sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Chopped nuts and maraschino cherries, if desired

Cut crust off bread; roll thin. Make a filling of combined cream cheese, yolks, 1 cup sugar, vanilla, chopped cherries and nuts. Beat well. Melt butter; combine colored sugar with cinnamon. Spread filling on thinly (1/8-inch) rolled bread. Roll up jelly roll style.

Dip in melted butter, then in cinnamon sugar. Place folded edge down on greased cookie sheet. Cut each in half to make 2 cookies. Refrigerate overnight or in freezer. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Makes 3 dozen. Nice at Christmas - you'd never guess they were made from bread!
