FILLED BREAD APPETIZERS | |
2 soft Italian breads 2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1/2 lb. ham, sliced 4 stalks scallions, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 4 slices American cheese, cut in 4 strips each 2 pickles (half sour), quartered lengthwise aluminum foil Slice one Italian bread lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through. Hollow cut both sides. Spread 1 package cream cheese evenly on both sides spread 1/2 of the chopped scallions and green peppers on top of cream cheese. Place 1/4 pound of the sliced ham lengthwise on bread, covering both sides and overlapping. Put strips of cheese on ham, forming 2 rows on either side of bread. Put quartered pickle slices between cheese strips. Roll the ham up into a tube and roll the cheese and pickle into a small long log. Then close the Italian bread with the ham log inside. Wrap the whole Italian bread in aluminum foil, compressing bread while rolling. Refrigerate overnight. When ready to serve, slice into 3/4 inch strips across the tubes and arrange the slices pyramid style on serving dish. Repeat with the second loaf of Italian bread. |
