BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES 
1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2-1 c. nuts (optional)

Grease 8 inch square pan. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter. Stir in brown sugar. Cool slightly. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Add nuts, if desired. Pour into pan. Bake 30 minutes.
