BISCUITS SUPREME 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk

Sift flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar and sugar. Cut in shortening until mix resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once and stir until dough follows fork around bowl and all contents are moistened. Pat or roll until 1/2 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 16 medium biscuits.
