2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. milk

Sift flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar and sugar. Cut in shortening; mixture is coarse. Add milk all at once and blend. Roll 1/2 inch thick; cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
