BISCUITS SUPREME | |
2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 2 tsp. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 2/3 c. milk Sift flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar and sugar; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once and stir just until dough follows fork around bowl. Pat or roll 1/2" thick; cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in hot oven, 450 degrees, 10 to 12 minutes. These are appropriate for afternoon tea or as a base for creamed foods. Makes 16 medium sized biscuits. |
