Kentucky Fried Chicken Coleslaw

 Chris (Alabama) says:
I worked at KFC in the 1980's, and made many, many batches of cole slaw. Except for the addition of celery seeds and salt, this recipe is as I remember making cole slaw! Of course, we started with a GALLON of Miracle Whip, but it WAS a restaurant :-)

I was trying to keep this low-carb so tried this with mayonnaise and Truvia instead of sugar (just 2 tsp) and it wasn't too good! Will try a different combo next time.

Yeah Chris, I used to work at KFC too - 100 years ago though... and I don't remember celery seeds and salt either. But their slaw has always been the best there is...

I have the PERFECT formula - it uses 1/2 head of shredded cabbage, 1 shredded carrot, mix 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup
sugar and 2 tbsp. vinegar... this is it 100%... received it from an elderly lady - was her family recipe. Have used
this for years... People will swear you bought this at KFC -
unless they actually see you make this...

I was a cook at KFC in college and the recipe is close but no celery seeds and you add shredded onion.

I added 1-2 tablespoons of apple juice and split: 1/2 mayo and 1/2 miracle whip and it turned out great.

Hold on... not bragging but I was known (during my teen years) as the Coleslaw King. You can't use just any vinegar... it must be tarragon.

You have to add the onions to make it Kentucky style cole slaw.

How much onions do you need to add to this recipe?
