PEPPER CABBAGE - PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH | |
1 med. head cabbage 1 1/2 c. sugar (may use sugar substitute) 3 ribs celery 2 c. water 1 c. fresh sweet pepper (red or green) 1 tsp. salt 1 c. white vinegar Shred cabbage, cut pepper and celery fine. Mix sugar, vinegar, water and salt and stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over cabbage mixture and stir to enhance flavor. Will keep several days in refrigerator. The vinegar solution may be used on other "sweet-sour" salads. |
