You can swap the Chilli sauces with hot ketchup. Been doing it for years. Change it up. No one will know how you made them and they are great!

I think adding the mustard is great for those who don't like sweet meat! Nice suggestion!!

Some of the suggestions sound great - others sound really gross. LOL Anchovies? Sauerkraut? Just the word sauerkraut makes me gag! That being said, to each his own. Use whatever makes them taste great to you. The Mama Rosa (I think) brand of cocktail-sized Italian meatballs carried at Walmart and Sam's are really good. I was a meatball snob since I'm Italian. But I have lots to do and if i can get out of rolling a hundred or more meatballs, I'll do it.

There's also a recipe for cocktail meatballs or l'il smokies that uses orange juice but I don't know what other ingredients. Anyone have that recipe?

I recently made a version of this recipe and pumped it up a bit by adding 1 tablespoon of garlic, 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard and 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. I used 2 lb. of frozen meatballs, 1 cup concord grape jelly and 1 bottle of chili sauce. The folks at the office raved over it.
