EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

This is so good and so easy. I used more cheese and only a 1/2 tsp. garlic, and it is perfect. Love it!

This recipe looks very yummy! I'm planning on doing an Italian "buffet" type thing for Christmas dinner and was wondering if this recipe would do alright kept in a crockpot on low, after I've already mixed up the ingredients on the stove. I'm hoping to keep the day as hectic-free as possible and don't really want to have to have a bunch of things cooking at the same time as guests are arriving.

I bought whipping cream to try another recipe and ran into this one. It sounds amazing and I am going to try it but hate to waste my whipping cream! lol Can I subsitute the half and half for whipping cream?

My wife made me this recipe for dinner tonight, I wasn't impressed. Not to rain on the parade but Alfredo sauce should taste like garlic, Parmesan, white wine, and cream, not like cream cheese. I have been a professional cook in some of the best restaurants in Washington for the past ten years and I will post a easy, fast, and tasty alfredo recipe for you guys.
This sauce would be better suited for a salmon pasta, or topping a white fish with capers, basil and lemon.

Michael, your girlfriend definitely needs to keep you. I made this recipe this morning for our family Christmas eve dinner tonight and I just hope my sister and myself will leave enough to be enjoyed by everyone else. We have been dipping in it every since we finished. Love It!! Merry Christmas.

After being horrified by the taste of a jarred store-bought Alfredo sauce, I found & tried this recipe. To reduce the cream cheese taste many have complained of, I used neufchâtel cheese. This worked like a charm & is also lower in fat. I didn't have half&half, so I used 1% milk- worked fine and honestly would have probably been too rich for my taste otherwise. Additionally, I used garlic salt instead of powder. Great recipe!

Thanks for the recipe. I just made chicken alfreado for supper. I did use 2% milk, worked great. To the chef who wanted it to taste like white wine and cream, use heavy cream and cut it with white wine. Thanks again!!!

I just made this for my 9 year old niece, who is an Alfredo junkie, and it is WONDERFUL! I will never buy jarred Alfredo Sauce, again. It's not too salty (as some restaurants serve it), either...Fantastico! Thanks.

OMG,Thank you so much this was the best Alfredo that I have ever had. I did it also with 2% milk, and added a little parsley. I finally figured out how to get my brother to wash my dishes LOL. Thankx again!

I'm wondering if it's possible just to use Parm cheese, butter, parsley, garlic & cream, but skip out on the cream cheese? Would the sauce be too watery if I didn't use it??

It was okay, if you really like the taste of garlicky cream cheese. I'm not an expert of Italian cuisine and all, but I've had restaurant quality Alfredo sauces before and it never tastes anything like Cream Cheese. I was kind of afraid when I saw cream cheese as such a huge portion of this recipe and my fears were correct. The sauces came out to thick, gooey, and cream cheesy. Blech!

The sauce is very tasty and my family liked it a lot. I used unsalted butter and then had to add salt to taste. Thank you for an easy recipe.
