MINESTRONE HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. onions, chopped
1 c. raw potatoes (opt.)
1 c. carrots, sliced
1/2 c. celery, diced
1 c. cabbage, shredded (opt.)
1 can tomatoes, (large 29 oz.)
1 c. macaroni, uncooked
1 bay leaf, small crushed
1/4 tsp. thyme, dried
1 tsp. beef base
1/4 tsp. basil, dried
3 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 - 1 1/2 qts. water

In a large kettle brown the hamburger and onions; add potatoes and water. Add carrots, celery, cabbage, and tomatoes, and bring soup to a boil. Sprinkle in macaroni and remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 1 hour. Serves 6 to 8.
