SHOO FLY PIE 
1 (9 inch) pie shell, unbaked

CRUMB MIXTURE:

1 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 rounded tbsp. Crisco

Mix together to make crumbs. Take out 3/4 to 1 cup crumbs for topping. Add to remaining crumbs:

1 c. dark corn syrup (King syrup)
1 egg
3/4 c. hot water
1/4 c. hot water with 1 tsp. baking soda

Mix liquid mixture. Pour into pie shell; top with crumbs. Bake 5 minutes at 450 degrees. Bake 30 minutes at 375 degrees until done.
