Aunt Edna's Homemade Chocolate Pudding
 #2156
 J Wilk says:
Aunt Edna made some mean chocolate pudding. This is some of the best I've had, especially for such a simple recipe.

I think the recipe needed more cocoa. I just made this pudding and as it finally began to thicken, it was just too milky/pale/bland. It tasted a bit like chocolate gravy until I added another tablespoon of cocoa. A little better now. Sorry, Aunt Edna!

Very good pudding. I did add an extra heaping tablespoon of cocoa. Easy to make and has very simple ingredients. I will make for years to come. Thanks Aunt Edna!

I thought that the pudding was bland. I added an extra tsp. cocoa powder.

This is very good pudding. I usually substitue the large can of evaporated milk and add water to make the 2 cups of milk. If I don't make it every Sunday my husband asks "where's the pudding"?

I had to give this recipe a try because my mother's name is Edna. It was very good! I cooked it in the microwave, three minutes the first time and two more times at 2 minutes each. It turned out great, I poured it into a 9-inch pie crust.

Looks like a very good recipe. Just wanted to ask a quick question. Can you keep it in the fridge for a few hours before serving?

Hi Shay,

You can serve this pudding either warm or refrigerate for several hours and serve it cold.

I am making the pudding and have never tried it before. But, I tried it from the stirring spoon and it is fabulous! It's cooling, and later it will be a surprise for my overworking mother. Thanks, Edna!

This was the best pudding I have ever tasted. It was fabulous, and the lack of ingredients was just what I was looking for. It was easy, fun, and good! It took a little time, stirring, but that doesn't matter. Hey Edna, do you have any cake recipes? Thanks.

This is great! I did add an extra tablespoon of cocoa and added my own spin to it. I took about 1/4 cup of milk out and replaced it with a strong coffee and it made a great chocolate coffee pudding. I served it in fillo dough cups. Thanks!!

I loved the pudding. Added an extra spoon full of cocoa, though. I modified it and put it on a graham cracker with marshmellow fluff to make a smore! Yum!

Just made this. Used 2 tbsp. cocoa, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup brewed strong coffee. Topped with canned whip cream. Delicious & very easy recipe.

Excellent, I also added 1 tbsp of cocoa plus something we should always add to our desserts : pinch of salt, it really picks up the chocolate flavor.... Always add a pinch of salt to your desserts while cooking them.....

I've just made this and it's the best chocolate pudding I've ever had and I rate it 5 stars but I dont think one tbsp of cocoa is enough. It needs two.

Everyone loved it! I made two batches, one with two tbsp of cocoa since everyone's comments leaned that way, but my bunch prefers one heaping tbsp. :) I blended with crushed Oreos and am taking it for dessert at Thanksgiving:)
