BANANA PUDDING - HOMEMADE 
2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. self rising flour
3 egg yolks
3 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 stick butter
Bananas
Wafers

Mix sugar and flour in non-stick saucepan. Add milk and beaten egg yolks. Cook over low heat stirring all the while until it thickens. When thickened add butter and vanilla. Let cool. Layer bananas and wafers in long glass pan. Pour pudding over them, let it soak in.

ICING:

3 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites with electric mixer full speed until stiff, add 3/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla; beat well. Pour over banana pudding, then lightly brown in oven on broil. Refrigerate.

I made this recipe today. Excellent. Instead of wafers I put it all into a pre-baked pie pastry. I make all my recipes from scratch and too many banana pudding recipes online are all call for "instant pudding" - which to me is no "recipe" at all but simply instructions to put something together.
