OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick oatmeal
1 cube butter

Cover and let stand 20 minutes. Put in mixing bowl:

1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs

Sift together the following:

1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Heat oven at 350 degrees. In mixer cream sugars and eggs. Add oatmeal ingredients; mix well. Add flour mixture. Bake in oblong pan 30-35 minutes or until done. When taken from oven while hot put topping on. Place in broiler 5 minutes or until golden brown (watch closely).

TOPPING FOR OATMEAL CAKE:

6 tbsp. soft butter
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix, spread on top of baked hot cake. Put in broiler until golden brown.
